Harmonies Girls Choir is an independent all-girls choral arts organization based in Los Angeles, California, USA. The choir is comprised of girls ages 8 through 18 under the musical direction of orchestral and choral conductor Maestro Antonio Espinal
In Los Angeles , the choir has been recognized for its achievements and was invited to open the 11th Annual Celebration of L.A. Music Week at the Los Angeles City Hall. Council Member Jack Weiss honored Mr. Espinal for his work with the youth in Los Angeles and presented Mr. Espinal with an honorary Certificate of Recognition by the City of Los Angeles. Also, Council Member of the 1st. District, Ed Reyes honored Harmonies for its achievements with another Certificate of Recognition.
The choir has been the first group to perform songs by virtuoso organ player/composer Dr. Christopher Bull and American composer Joseph Julian Gonzalez, in collaboration with the Chamber Ensemble of the Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by Mr. Espinal.
The choir released its first CD, “Festejo de Navidad”, a Latin-American Christmas Carols CD. It is a homage to Latin America, singing only in Spanish and Portuguese. The official release of the CD was at the Zipper Hall Auditorium at the Colburn School of Performing Arts.
Harmonies Girls Choir has been interviewed and invited to perform on channels and 11 (Fox-“ Good Day LA”) 27, 28 (KCET), 34 (Univision), and 52 (Telemundo). The group has also received interviews in local newspapers.
Harmonies annually performed for the L.A. County Holiday Celebration at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and has been selected to perform the American National Anthem for the celebration of Mexico’s Independence Day at LA City Hall.
Harmonies have sung for United Way Million Dollar Annual fund raising events; El Día del Salvadoreño celebration at Exposition Park; the Posadas Celebrations at the Placita Olvera, in the historic Olvera Street; the Cesar Chavez “Educating the Heart” fund raising dinner event where they sang for Yolanda King (daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King).
HARMONIES GIRLS CHOIR is a member of the American Federation Pueri Cantores and the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA).
